Ten pages of ideas for putting on a themed-show with your group.

Are you at a loss with what to perform with your students this year? This ten page guide is packed with ideas!

Included are:
  • 25 Ideas for Younger Students
  • Long List of Themes (over 80!)
  • 18 Ideas for Older Students
Example of an idea for a show for younger students:

Superheroes

Each student creates his/her own superhero character. The superhero must have: a name; 1-3 special powers; and a weakness. In small groups, they take turns coming up with stories and situations in which their superhero characters save the day. As a group, students choose the stories that were the most interesting, to share on performance day. Students can also identify superheroes in their own lives and act out stories from real life. Each actor can assemble a fun, superhero costume from items they find at home. They can also: make up superhero raps; recite poetry; create a superhero dance that the group performs at the end.

Example of an idea for a show for older students:

Spoon River Anthology

Edgar Lee Master’s Spoon River Anthology was an immediate commercial success when it was published in 1915. Unconventional in both style and content, it shattered the myths of small town American life. It is a collection of epitaphs of residents of a small town that can serve as monologues. Each student picks his/her own character, and the group decides how to put the pieces together.
