Charles de Lint is a writer who was born in the Netherlands and now lives in Canada. His numerous awards and honors include the World Fantasy Award, the Canadian SF/Fantasy Aurora Award, and the White Pine Award, among others.
He has graciously given his permission to offer a wonderful collection of haiku for use by teachers on Drama Notebook.
The haiku are set up on the pages so that they are easy to print, cut apart and distribute to students. Use as a voice activity, or a creative movement activity, or as part of a holiday/winter showcase.
Example of a winter haiku:
On a grey solstice
day: crows, thin sunlight, restless
spirits heading home
