Designed to boost focus and spark the imagination, this FEELINGS themed warmup video is an excellent way to start the day or use any time your students need a re-set. A perfect pairing for Social Emotional Learning. Just press play and watch the fun and learning begin.

Children will love doing this warmup over and over again. As they bounce, stretch, and wiggle in self-space, they will become both energized and regulated. Once they learn the Brain Dance movement patterns, you can even make up your own Brain Dances! You’ll find this warmup and more playful activities in the full Feelings Themed Creative Drama Lesson.

The Brain Dance, developed by dance educator Anne Green Gilbert, is an 8-step movement sequence based on the developmental patterns humans naturally move through during the first year of life. Cycling through these patterns helps organize the central nervous system and integrate the brain and body at any age.

The 8 Patterns:

Breath
Tactile
Core-Distal
Head-Tail
Upper-Lower
Body-Side
Cross-Lateral
Vestibular (In these videos, we use “whole body” instead of vestibular)
