Setting
Long ago in a kingdom far away.

Narrator One: Once upon a time, there was a very old king, who was much loved throughout the land.

Narrator Two: Every year, he would throw a birthday party for the thirteen fairies in the land, for they were all born on the same day, exactly one year apart.

Narrator One: But since he was so old, he’d grown forgetful, and one year he forgot.

Narrator Two: All of the fairies forgave him, except for the oldest fairy, for she had just quit smoking and was really irritated.

Narrator One: The oldest fairy appeared in the castle on the day after her birthday.

Oldest Fairy: As you have seen fit to cancel the party this year, I shall put a curse on you!

King: I’m sorry, I completely forgot.

Oldest Fairy: Kings never forget. I command that your nose grow three times its size and stay that way until you can find the most famous person in the land. They must come here and undo the curse with the secret fairy poem.

Narrator One: And with that, the Oldest Fairy waved her evil wand, and “POOF,” the king’s nose grew three sizes larger.

King: Oh dear. I think I smell something burning in the kitchen.

Narrator Two: The fairy disappeared, leaving the king with his enormous nose, and a very sharp sense of smell.

King: Oh, what am I to do?

Narrator One: There was only one person who could help him out of this mess.

King: Rumpelstiltskin! Rumpelstiltskin!

Narrator Two: Rumpelstiltskin was known to be the cleverest person in the kingdom. Luckily, he had stopped by for coffee that morning.

Rumpelstiltskin: Yes, your majesty? What happened to your face?

Narrator One: The king explained and asked for Rumpelstiltskin’s help.

King: I need you to find the most famous person in the land and bring them to the castle.

Rumpelstiltskin: I wouldn’t even know where to begin, sire, but I will do my best.

Narrator Two: Rumpelstiltskin bowed and set off on his way.

The king slumps down on his throne, sniffing the air.

King: I can smell everything. There’s a dog in the village that needs a bath, and the apples in the countryside that have fallen and are beginning to rot. This is annoying.
