SCENE 1
The Scene opens in a forest where RED skips along humming.
RED:
Treats for Granny! Treats for Granny! I’ve got to bring these treats to Granny!
(RED stops skipping and looks around.)
RED:
Hmmm, I don’t remember the forest looking like this…
(Enter PETER PAN, RABBIT, BEAR, AND SQUIRREL.)
PETER PAN:
ARGH! YOU’RE UNDER AMBUSH! RAISE YOUR ARMS AND STATE YOUR CASE!
(RED raises her arms.)
RED:
Little Red Riding Hood, but you can call me Red! I was delivering treats to my granny, but I seem to be lost…
PETER PAN:
Ha! You’re not lost! You’re just pretending to be so that you can spy on us! Isn’t that right?
RED:
Um, no, seriously, where am I? Is this some sort of prank?
PETER PAN:
I love pranks!
RABBIT:
Uh, Peter, I don’t think she’s joking.
PETER PAN:
You seriously don’t know where you are? You’re in Neverland!
RED:
Neverland?
RABBIT, BEAR, SQUIRREL, AND PETER PAN:
YOU’VE NEVER HEARD OF NEVERLAND?
RED:
No…
SQUIRREL:
Neverland is only the coolest place in the world!
BEAR:
Yeah! In Neverland you never grow up!
RED:
Never grow up? That’s impossible!
PETER PAN:
Nothing is impossible in Neverland! We live side by side here with mermaids, pirates, and fairies!
RED:
Fairies?
PETER PAN:
Yup! (calling) Oh, Tinker Bell!
(Enter TINKER BELL.)
TINKER BELL:
Hi Peter! Hi boys, what do you- (TINKER BELL notices RED and gets excited.) A girl! It’s a girl! Finally, I won’t be the only girl in the lost boys!
PETER PAN:
Actually, I don’t think Red here will be joining the lost boys…
RED:
What’re the lost boys?
RABBIT, BEAR, AND SQUIRREL:
We’re the lost boys and Peter is our leader! Together we fight off pirates and never grow up!
RED:
Woah! Cool! Can I join?
PETER PAN:
No.
RED:
Why not?
PETER PAN:
Because you’re a girl, and everyone knows that girls are pirates!
RED:
Hey! What about Tinker Bell?
PETER PAN:
Tinker Bell is a fairy, fairies can’t be pirates silly!
RED:
This is so unfair!
RABBIT:
Yeah!
BEAR:
I think Red should be allowed to join us!
SQUIRREL:
I agree!
PETER PAN:
Alright fine-
SQUIRREL, BEAR, RABBIT, TINKER BELL, AND RED:
Yay!
PETER PAN:
But first, she must prove herself!
SQUIRREL, BEAR, RABBIT, TINKER BELL, AND RED:
Boo!
PETER PAN:
She must prove herself with an act of bravery…stealing Captain Hook’s golden hook!
RED:
Sounds fair enough! I promise I will bring that golden hook back to you in no time! Wait…who’s Captain Hook?
PETER:
You will learn soon. Very, very soon.
