About the Playwright:

Jennifer Reif has been teaching, directing, and performing around the Pacific Northwest for decades. Her shelves are lined with children’s books and her happy place is in the woods. She loves devising theatre projects with kids and sharing creative ideas with teachers. Jennifer holds her BA in Theatre from Morningside College and also studied at Oxford University in England.

Rapunzel and the Prince
Rapunzel is too busy to let her hair down.

PRINCE Hello up there!

RAPUNZEL Hello.

PRINCE I am a prince.

RAPUNZEL Nice to meet you Prince.

PRINCE Please let down your hair.

RAPUNZEL Why?

PRINCE So I can climb up to see you.

RAPUNZEL Thanks, but I am busy.

PRINCE How can you be busy, you live in a tower?

RAPUNZEL I am reading a book.

PRINCE What book are you reading?

RAPUNZEL It is a book called Trees and Bees.

PRINCE Trees and Bees?

RAPUNZEL Yes. It is a very good book. Now please go away.

PRINCE Can I come back later?

RAPUNZEL Yes. How about at one o’clock?

PRINCE One o’clock it is.

RAPUNZEL See you then.

PRINCE Will you let down your hair at one o’clock?

RAPUNZEL Bring a ladder.
